Before getting to how to get your podcast to the ears of the entire world, there s the matter of where your podcast files are going to reside. Or suppose that one of your old podcasts that had maybe 100 downloads somehow gets to the front page of Digg, Slashdot, or one of the other social networks, and 10,000 people download it today. Then your bandwidth will vaporize. If you ve decided to have more of a permanent relationship than a fling with podcasting, start researching your alternatives and consider two possibilities for hosting your Podcasts: a podcasting-friendly ISP like Liberated Syndication (http://libsyn.com) or the Ourmedia project (www.ourmedia.org), shown in Figure 11-5. An outgrowth of the Internet Archive, which seeks to preserve digital artifacts such as websites for future generations, the Ourmedia project promises to store and serve your podcasts forever, if you agree to let others use your content to some degree, via a Creative Commons or similar license.
